The Leading Edge

Network: The Knowledge Network
Show: The Leading Edge, Innovation in BC
Description:
We shot the Knowledge Network segment at the University of British Columbia in the ICICS space as well as in the Visual Cognition Lab (www.viscoglab.com). The episode was describing the research of Dr. Ronald Rensink, Dr. Gustav Kuhn, and myself – namely, we were looking at effects relating to the sixth sense (mindsight), inattentional blindness, change blindness, and various effects relating to the Science of Magic. Gustav showed some tricks with the cigarette lighter while Zaya Tong was wired up to an eye-tracking machine. I showed a trick with a ring and a rope (as in many of the other television clips) as well as a quick trick showing how it is possible to manipulate a seemingly free choice. In the end, we all went to a restaurant downtown and Gustav and I each were filmed performing a 20-minute show. You can see the end result below!
